Advanced Referee
Advanced Referee
An advanced referee is trained to center U14 level matches, although their training is sufficiently rigorous that you will often see them officiating at U16 and U19 levels. They have had to pass a physical fitness test, attained a score of 90% or higher on the advanced exam on the Laws of the Game, and been assessed by senior referees in a U14B game as both an assistant referee and as a center referee. They have refereed at least 50 games as a center referee, with at least 10 as a center referee at the U14 level, and at least 5 as an assistant referee in U14 games. Nationwide, less than 3% of all referees have earned an advanced badge.
The Advanced Referee Course (old Section Course) is a total of seven hours in five modules ranging from one to two hours in length. As in the Intermediate Course, current material was retained and additional concepts introduced. Flow versus control, gamesmanship and player tactics are introduced. Greater emphasis is placed on referee positioning and foul recognition. Completion of these modules will provide necessary training for the Advanced Referee to referee most AYSO matches under FIFA Laws of the Game and AYSO National Rules and Regulations.
Requirements
Minimum age - 16
Number of Games - 50 as referee (10 in U-14) and 5 as an assistant referee (in U-14)
Training - Complete Modules 20 through 24 (Advanced Referee Course)
Testing - 90% or better on the Advanced Referee Exam
Assessment - One as referee and one as assistant referee in a U-14 match
Fitness Test - Complete the AYSO Physical Fitness Test for this level
Service - Do a minimum of five service units..
