AYSO Region 71 - Woodland Hills

New & Returning Referees

New/Returning Referees and Registering Youth Referees

New Referee:

  1. Go to the region71.org website
  2. Click the REGISTER NOW button
  3. Follow the the instructions below for returning referees from step 3 onwards,

Returning Referee:

  1. Register for the Fall season on the region71.org website 
  2. Login with your email address and password.
  3. Click on the MY ACCOUNT button in the upper right corner of the page.
  4. Click on the Volunteer button on the left below My Account and Calendar
  5. Click on the blue button "Find Volunteer Roles" on the upper right
  6. Click on the "View Divisions" to the right of VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION MY 2024/2025
  7. Check the box for boys or girls (it doesn't really matter for you can referee any match; although if you have a player click on their division)
  8. Click the blue box "View Selected Opportunities" on the lower right of the page
  9. Find the Referee role (click on right arrow to move page to the right) and click on that icon; you can register for as many roles as you need to on these screens
  10. Click on blue button on lower right to accept and confirm your volunteer details.
  11. You should be able to register your self or you can register someone else if you name does not show
  12. Complete the next page as an AYSO Volunteer and follow the remainder of the online instructions
  13. Then check your Volunteer page for any certifications that have expired (e.g., Risk Status (Sterling Volunteers) and SafeSport).
    •  If any certification has expired, click on the box next to the certification and then click on the Renew & Update blue button on the lower right and side of the page.  For further assistance follow this link to Sports Connect Help page.
    • Repeat as needed for each certification that needs to be updated
    • NOTE:  if you don't see your certifications, you can open a new tab and log into AYSOu.org (same log-in credentials) while staying logged into www.region71.org.  This should bring into Sports Connect all your certifications.  For certifications that are still not showing but are showing ni AYSOU, email [email protected] to link up certifications.
      • See further below if you need to take LiveScan
  14. For Risk Status, you should then get an email from Sterling Volunteers to complete the background check portion
    •  Follow the links on the email including where you can pay the $25 fee for a background check or have our region pay for it (it will mean lot to us if you can pay for it but of course we will pay for it if needed to get you on the pitch!)
    • IMPORTANT: don't worrry about if middle name is missing; just complete the Sterling application as is (they know it's a glitch)
    • You can check in a few days you are a "green" volunteer by logging back into www.region71.org, click on the Volunteer button and see your status along with all your other certifications.

Youth Referees

  1. The parent user at home page - click on "Volunteers" on left-side menu.
  2. Then click on oval green circle on upper right that says "Find Volunteer Roles"
  3. Click on "View Divisions" to the right of VOLUNTEER REGISTRATION MY 2024/2025
  4. Check the box for boys or girls (it doesn't really matter for you can referee any match; although if you have a player click on their division)
  5. Click the blue box "View Selected Opportunities" on the lower right of the page
  6. Find the Referee role (click on right arrow to move page to the right) and click on that icon
  7. You will be able to register your player by clicking on "register someone else"
  8. Complete the next page with the information for the youth referee
  9. Click on the blue button "Invite User and Continue"
  10. The new user can follow the instructions in the email and finish the process as outlined above in "Returning Referee" from step 11.
    • NOTE: a background check, CA fingerprinting including LiveScan and SafeSport should not be needed.  The risk status for youth referees will show as "Blue."

  • You access AYSOu/Etrainu via your sign-in with your Region 71 website credentials
  • Refer to our Referee Training tab in the Referees section of the Region 71 website for upcoming classes for our region as well as further information for the required on-line training courses: Safe Haven, Concussion Awareness, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, SafeSport and the new fingerprinting requirement under LiveScan.
  • Find other local classes or sign-up for the online Referee class and companion courses being offered at near by regions.
  • Reach out to our Regional Referee Administrator (Norbert Peekhaus) for help
